Today Iā€™m thrilled to reveal the cover art for Dark Matter šŸ’« Anna Haas brought the vision to life with stunning photo and art, and Bennett Jason of Revelhaus worked makeup magic. The result is my transformation into a glowing nebula. Grateful beyond words to the brilliant collaborators who made this moment possible, and to everyone walking beside me as Dark Matter unfolds. After much deliberation, Iā€™ve settled on my mini pedalboard for the Nightfall Tour in NYC. Iā€™m starting out with a Boss TU-3s chromatic tuner. Itā€™s a great space saver and leaves me just enough room to fit in my Xotic SP compressor, which helps with volume and sustain. After that, I have a Respira combo shimmer/tremolo pedal from AC Noises which is quickly becoming one of my go to pedals for creating ambient textures. Next is the Afterneath pedal from EarthQuaker Devices. Itā€™s a reverberator that makes these really cool echoey soundscapes. Lastly, the final pedal is the Hydra from Keeley Electronics. Itā€™s a combo tremolo and reverb. Usually you would put that up earlier in the chain, but if Iā€™ve learned one thing about guitar pedals, itā€™s all about taste and it doesnā€™t really matter where you place the pedals as long as it makes sense for the sound you want to create. I know what you might also be asking yourself, why do she have two tremolo pedals? They both operate in different ways and create very different sounds. Also, since Iā€™m gonna be singing and playing guitar at the same time, I canā€™t really get down and mess with the pedal settings in the middle of a song. So Iā€™ll use the Keeley for a classic but modern tremolo on the rock songs, and the Respira for a synthesizer like effect on the ballads. Thatā€™s todayā€™s pedal round up!
